FranchiseKey International – Select the best… worldwide!
FranchiseKey.com is an international online platform for the franchise economy helping franchisors to expand their networks at home and, in particular, abroad. Its content, structure and concept stand out from that offered by many competitors who disappear from the Internet almost every month and whose content appears surprisingly similar to so many other publications.
The first English version of FranchiseKey went online in 2005 and other languages have followed over the years.
The FranchiseKey project came into being in response to the
growing internationalization of the franchise economy. Having rejected the idea
of jointly marketing their individual European portals due to the differing
offers and prices – the French advertising costs are considerably higher –, the
three partners decided to develop a new platform with a joint directory.
Today, FranchiseKey is available in 20 countries and in 10
languages , with emphasis having, up to now, been put on Europe.
However, FranchiseKey has also taken the step beyond Europe opening up websites
in large countries such as the USA, Russia and Brazil where it is gradually
becoming more and more well-known. FranchiseKey’s motto “Select the best…
worldwide!” is targeted at both franchise candidates as well as at franchisors.
All 20 countries now have the same home page since the website was redesigned in January 2009. This has led to a clear increase in the number of visitors and page views. In January 2010, around 200,000 visitors clicked on to more than half a million pages – and this is steadily increasing month on month.
The largest ever franchise “video library” allows potential entrepreneurs to view video interviews held with franchisors that were, for the most part, filmed at exhibitions, conferences and round table sessions. The franchise systems have been divided up into 12 main categories and 96 sub-categories, a complicated task considering the differences between the individual countries.
MyFranchiseKey: the franchisors’ personal area
And just a quick glance behind the login: in the MyFranchiseKey
section, franchisors can access the information about their system at
any time in order to alter or update it. Moreover, they can select the
countries they are interested in as well as check and comment on applications
and their status.
How exactly
does FranchiseKey differ from other franchise portals?
1. Integrated international platform instead of a large number of individual solutions
Thanks to FranchiseKey’s international database, a franchise’s profile and latest news can be published in the target countries of its choice with just a click of the mouse. Most other providers simply publish a copy and translation of a national website for other countries.
2. Presentation of all systems rather than restricting site to paying customers
All (serious) franchise and licence systems are presented on FranchiseKey free of charge using a mixture of data, pictures and videos. This means a greater choice and a greater likelihood for potential franchisees to find the right concept and for franchisors to find the right candidate.
Other providers only show the systems that pay to have their franchise presented.
3. Free presentation in several countries instead of charging individual advertising fees per country
By allowing franchises to present themselves on FranchiseKey free of charge, the systems can be shown in several different countries at the same without having to pay high fixed monthly charges . At the same time, franchisors can test their international potential by analysing origin, number and quality.
Other providers charge a separate advertising fee for each individual country and insist on a long-term contract being signed.
4. Optional pay-per-candidate instead of a flat-rate monthly sum
Franchisors receive detailed applications per email that do not, however, contain the applicant’s contact details. The franchisors can, therefore, decide each time they receive an application whether they wish to purchase this “qualified lead” with a click of a mouse or turn it down. The candidates are then informed of the franchisors’ decision. If a franchisor decides to purchase the lead, then he is sent the relevant contact details. This extended pay-per-candidate principle means greater flexibility and cost transparency for franchisors.
Payment per lead is already being offered by some foreign portals – the opportunity to decide per “qualified lead”, however, is an innovative concept.
5. Communication in the language of your choice rather than receiving incomprehensible enquiries
The franchisors decide themselves in what language their systems profile
should be published in a country and in which language they wish to communicate.
This ensures that they only receive applications from candidates who
have knowledge of the language(s) they are interested
in.
When looking to expand internationally, franchisors often find themselves
facing the problem of processing enquiries passed on to them by foreign portals
that are written in a language they do not understand.
